When the players move into the Under 10's and beyond they play a more recognisable version of the adult form of the game, still with some modified rules in the younger grades to allow for the age and experience of the players.
Junior Comp
The junior teams play in the Met North Zone competition in a grade that is suited to the ability and experience of the players in each team. MNZ run Friday evening and Sunday morning games so that players can still play sport for their school on Saturdays. Friday night games at the Wakehurst ground are always a great social affair with parents getting into the spirit of things and enjoying a great game of rugby while they catch up with friends, old and new. The comp is well organised, run in a professional manner and controlled by external, fully-trained MNZ referees. End of season semis and finals are always a highlight of the comp, many Wakehurst teams featuring year after year.
Rep Rugby
As one of the six village clubs that make up Warringah Juniors, players in the junior comp have the opportunity to enter the rep trials and play for Warringah Juniors. Many Wakehurst players, through the excellent coaching guidance of the club, have gone on to represent Warringah Juniors, Sydney Juniors and even NSW Juniors. We are very proud of our players who have reached these levels and of the fact that so many talented players have spent time with our club.
If you would like to know more about rep rugby and how the system works, contact our head coach, Geoff Benstead.
Training
Training is usually on a Tuesday or Wednesday evening depending on the availability of the individual team coach.
